Tarmac deal meets with muted response
Article Abstract:
There has been an unenthusiastic response to plans by Tarmac to demerge into a materials business, to retain the Tarmac name, and a construction division, to be known as Carillion. Clients do not feel that they are likely to benefit from the merger, and financial experts point out that little real detail of the financial structure of the new businesses has been provided. The 25 million pounds sterling deal will involve Sir Neville Simms becoming Carillion Chmn, while Tarmac Group Chief Executive will be Tarmac Group Director Roy Harrison.
