Tesco's saver store
Article Abstract:
The construction of a new supermarket, for Tesco PLC, from modular components took some 22 weeks. The construction of a supermarket built with traditional methods takes around 28 weeks. Some 5.3 million pounds sterling was spent on building the new store in Haslemere, Surrey, England. Prefabricated building materials firm Yorkon Operations Manager Keith Jones points out the store could have been finished within 12 weeks if the planning permission had not required adapting the modular components to suit a pitched roof.
