Transcom expands to France, Italy, Austria

Transcom Europe, a Swedish-owned call center network, has opened facilities in Vienna, Austria; Milan, Italy; and Paris, France to provide support to Swedish telecommunications firm TELE2. TELE2 has been aggressively building a pan-European network, entering the German, Dutch, Swiss, Luxembourg, Italian, French and Austrian markets over the last 15 months. Transcom Europe's has grown alongside that of TELE2, but Transcom Europe is still looking for local and global clients.

DMers keep watchful eye on China

Direct marketers (DMers) remain bullish on the potential of the Chinese market even as President Clinton rejected a deal that would have given China a chance to join the World Trade Organization (WTO). DMers cite the approval of several packages during the WTO talks, particularly the Market Access Package, which is expected to double the aviation traffic between the two countries.
