Yeoman Group buys Brookes & Gatehouse

Article Abstract:

Brookes & Gatehouse (B&G), which produces marine electronics, is being acquired by Yeoman Group plc. The transaction, which needs the approval of Yeoman shareholders, would form a major player in the navigation market. With a US sales office in Annapolis, MD, Yeoman provides a line of plotters that place a boater's position directly on charts and maps. The acquisition includes B&G's administrative and manufacturing facilities, which will back up Yeoman's growing business and current marine sales.

Article Abstract:

Yacht builder Townsend Bay Marine has been bought by Lurssen Yachts of Germany for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition follows Lurssen's unsuccessful bid to gain control of Palmer Johnson in spring of 2000. Lurssen says the merger would add a composite shipbuilding component to its capabilities, as well as providing customer support in the Pacific Northwest. The German company builds yachts and military watercraft up to 160 meters while Townsend manufactures yachts up to 150 ft.
