Boat industry has a boom year

Article Abstract:

Statistics from the National Marine Manufacturers Assn (NMMA) indicate that 1999 was an impressive sales year for the boat industry. The NMMA figures also show that boat sales were up by 6%, with 605,000 units sold during the year, and that retail sales rose by 20% to $23 billion. The strong sales performance has been attributed to the strengthening economy and a healthy marine finance industry.

Genmar owner Irwin Jacobs and the leadership of the NMMA decided that it is in the best interest of both sides to reconcile their differences.
