At home with tax
Article Abstract:
The UK Inland Revenue has a number of regulations relating to the purchasing and letting of property. Tax relief is available on interest paid on up to 30,000 pounds sterling-worth of loans for home purchasing, and is currently at 15%. Most home purchase loans are covered by the Mortgage Interest Relief at Source scheme, under which tax relief is deducted before the taxpayer pays interest. For people wishing to let property, it is possible to qualify for rent-a-room relief if part of a person's only or main home is let as furnished accommodation.
