The best DIY stores
Article Abstract:
Consumer researchers evaluated major UK do-it-yourself (DIY) chainstores. They collected data on prices, they looked at other services on offer, including delivery and task advice leaflets, they considered the product range, and they compared discount schemes. The investigation revealed that product prices are very variable, and that comparing prices in their local stores could save the consumer more than 50% on the cost of a basic DIY project. However, the Wickes PLC chain often had lower prices than other stores, and B&Q PLC stores offer a wider range of products.
