About 1 in 5 Australian households includes someone who voluntarily takes care of another household member who is elderly, frail, disabled, or chronically ill. Some government-subsidized services are available through the Commonwealth Department of Health and Family Services, but the eligibility requirement for assistance can be difficult to meet. There are other resources available through various associations, councils and centers. A list of such organizations is included.

Financial adviser deceives elderly clients

Article Abstract:

Two financial advisers were sentenced to prison in Australia for defrauding clients, some of them retirees, of hundreds of thousands of dollars. The cases illustrate the need to check the qualifications of financial advisers. Investors should always keep their own records of their investments.
