Don't be had by financial ads
Article Abstract:
The financial services industry has a reputation for misleading advertisements, which could confuse people seeking mortgages, insurance or investments. The industry is policed by three standards organisations, including the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), but all have limited powers and many misleading advertisements continue to appear. The ASA should be empowered to give better protection to consumers.

Financial bad buys
Article Abstract:
Various financial products, considered bad buys, including bank accounts, mortgages and house insurance, are examined. Midland Bank does not pay interest on its current account and has the most expensive overdrafts. The most expensive shop cards were from Rumbelows and Argos, and the most expensive mortgage lender was TSB. Life and house insurance products and ways to avoid bad buys are discussed.
