There is a downturn in the thermal fax market, compared to single function plain-paper models. Fax machines are becoming more multifunctional, but thermal machines still have an important niche as users still need a separate device or back for existing faxes. It is likely that thermal paper models will be phased out in the UK, but the decline will be slow, and they will still be manufactured to meet demand in developing countries.
