The second-hand option
Article Abstract:
Second-hand cars can be bought from a dealer, an auction or from a private sale. Dealers have to ensure that their cars are 'fit for its purpose' and of 'satisfactory quality'. Customers who buy a car which is found to not fit these criteria may be able to get their money back. Private sellers do not have to give these assurances but the cars are usually cheaper. Auctions are very risky because the cars cannot be checked out beforehand and are sold as seen. Faults must be detected within one hour of purchase. The AA and RAC will check over cars for a fee ranging from 100 pounds sterling.

The second-hand option
Article Abstract:
Huge savings can be made by buying a second-hand car and the cars may still be covered by the manufacturer's warranty if they are under three years old. However, potential buyers should consider safety standards and security because improvements have been made in these areas in recent years. Older cars may not have a driver's airbag or an adequate security system. It is also important to know the history of a second-hand car and to check that it is what it appears to be. This can be done by checking the registration documents, MOT certificates and looking into the service history.

The Brava, priced at 11,457, has a well-designed interior but poor ride quality. The family car is a highly competitive sector of the car industry.
