Article Abstract:
The UK's Office of Telecommunications (Oftel) has asked the Monopolies and Mergers Commission to investigate mobile phone prices, which it believes are too high. Oftel believes that charges should be priced at around 0.20 pounds sterling a minute, compared to the 0.32 pounds sterling per minute currently charged for daytime calls. Oftel is also worried about the lack of competitive pressure in the mobile phone market.
