FRANCE: REVIEW OF THE GLASS PACKAGING MARKET
Article Abstract:
The French glass packaging market, particularly bottles and jars is facing growing competition form plastic and soft packaging. Therefore glass producers must now assert their plastic packaging strategy. In terms of glass bottles for the perfume and pharmaceutical industries, glass companies must counteract the increased number of launches and shorter series. In addition those placing the orders are increasingly demanding that their bottle be an original creation or a prototype. Saint-Gobain is the leader for glass packaging in France, with a turnover of FFr 6.783bn, followed by Danone with FFr 5.249bn, and trailed by Pochet with FFr 2.024bn, Bormioli Rocco with FFr 550mn and Brosse with FFr 441mn.
