Episodic development of a convergent margin inferred from structures and processes along the southern Chile margin
Article Abstract:
Structures within the margin from the first multichannel seismic reflection data extending from the shelf to the trench close to Isla Mocha are examined, and compared to the margin near to the Chile triple junction. A long history of accretion with current deformational style is not compatible with the small accreted mass lying along the margin.

A cross section of the convergent Pacific margin of Nicaragua
Article Abstract:
It has been possible to obtain the first detailed cross section of the Middle America continental margin between Guatemala and Costa Rica. The continental margin of Nicaragua is made up of a broad forearc basin. This basin is probably underlain by igneous basement of oceanic origin.
