Global glacial isostasy and the surface of the ice-age Earth: The ICE-5G (VM2) model and GRACE
Article Abstract:
The impacts of the changing surface ice load upon both Earth's shape and gravitational field, as well as upon sea-level history, have come to be measurable using a variety or geological and geophysical techniques. The significant test of this new global model ICE-5G (VM2) would be provided by the global measurement of the time dependence of the gravity field of the planet that would be delivered by the GRACE satellite system that is now in space.

Water, melting and the deep earth [H.sub.2]O cycle
Article Abstract:
The topics related to deep water cycle are considered starting with reviewing of constraints from basalt geochemistry on [H.sub.2]O storage in the mantle. The emphasis is on the role of melting in modulating fluxes of [H.sub.2]O in the mantle, with particular attention to melting in source regions on oceanic basalts, above 410 km discontinuity, and in the lower mantle.

Orographic precipitation
Article Abstract:
The influence of surface orography on patterns of perceptions has given rise to some of the most pronounced climate gradients on Earth. It plays a fundamental role in the interaction between the atmosphere and the rest of the earth system on a wide variety of time scales.
