Limited fluid-rock interaction at marble-gneiss contacts during Cretaceous granulite-facies metamorphism, Seward Peninsula, Alaska
Article Abstract:
Fluids are vital in the transfer of thermal energy in the Earth's crust since they quicken metamorphic reactions, they are a means of transfer and they can be used to estimate rheological features. A study shows major fluid advection in the mid-crustal metamorphic environment, and reveals that flat surfaced marbles do not permit upward fluid flow in rocks of transitional amphibolite-granulite. The rate of diffusional transport of isotopes confirms the temporary presence of pore fluid produced by thermally driven devolatilization reactions. The flow of fluid through marbles was absent during the highest point in metamorphism.

Metamorphism of mafic dikes from the central White-Inyo Range, eastern California
Article Abstract:
Research into the metamorphic parageneses of the thin mafic dikes which transect uppermost Proterozoic-Cambrian metasedimentary strata of the White-Inyo Range in eastern California has produced a number of interesting findings with regard to subsolidus recrystallization of the mafic metadikes. Diachronous suites of mafic metadikes are clearly present in the central White-Inyo Range. It remains unclear whether these are correllative with the Independence dike swarm. It was established that neoblastic mineral assemblages are systematic in both sequence of phases and their areal disposition.

Metamorphism and phase relations in carbonate rocks from the Nevado-Filabride complex (Cordilleras Beticas, Spain): application of the Ttn + Rt + Cal + Qtz + Gr buffer
Article Abstract:
Forward modeling is used to study metamorphism and phase relations in carbonate rocks from the Nevado-Filabride Complex. Results show that the mineral assemblage titanite-rutile-calcite-quartz-graphite buffers fluid composition and oxygen fugacity in metacarbonate environments. Fluid compositions for this buffer are also binary H2O-CO2 mixtures for different P-T conditions.
