Nd isotopic evidence for juvenile crust in the Carolina terrane, southern Appalachians
Article Abstract:
A study shows that Carolina terrane, southern Appalachians, is partly made from juvenile and mantle-derived crust. Analysis of Nd isotope from whole rock samples shows that the amount of mid-Proterozoic or older recycled material is not significant. The terrain could have its origins in oceanic crust and was a part of intraoceanic environment in its formative years. A large amount data has been collected on the region and this could help in geological research.

Formation temperatures of clays from the volcaniclastic series of Site 841 ODP: an oxygen isotopic record of a paleothermal flux into the Tonga forearc
Article Abstract:
The Miocene Tonga forearc has been found to contain low grade contact metamorphism produced by the paleothermal flux. Researchers have discovered that the paleothermal flux was responsible for the presence of oxygen isotopic compositions of clay minerals in the same site. These isotopic compositions were formed in an iron-chlorite-corrensite paragenesis environment capable of generating temperatures of up to 200 deg Celcius.

U-Pb isotopic evidence for the accretion of different crustal blocks to form the Lewisian Complex of northwest Scotland
Article Abstract:
The mainland Lewisian Complex of northwest Scotland has long been thought to consist of three different regions distinguished by their distinctive metamorphic and structural histories. SHRIMP U-Pb single-grain isotopic evidence for the ages of protoliths in the northern region is presented. The timing of Proterozoic metamorphic episodes are also investigated
