Petrology of the late-Carboniferous Punta Falcone gabbroic complex, northern Sardinia, Italy
Article Abstract:
The Punta Falcone gabbroic complex in northern Sardinia, Italy is a parental magma formation that came from the introduction of high-alumina basalt into partially uncrystallized granite magma. The interior and marginal interaction zones in the gabbroic complex feature varied structures due to the low pressure and closed-system crystallization that happened in the interior zone. Cumulus crystals and trapped liquids abound in the chamber, creating different rock protrusions. Chemical and physical processes like crystal fractionation and thermodynamic instability also aid in the structural formation of the gabbroic complex.

Petrology of the mafic lavas within the Onega plateau, central Karelia: evidence for 2.0 Ga plume-related continental crust growth in the Baltic Shield
Article Abstract:
A study of the 2.0 Ga basalts and other rocks found in the Onega plateau in the southeastern Baltic Shield is given. The study was done primarily to find out how the lavas were emplaced and the time of formation of volcanic and plutonic rocks. The Onega plateau is part of a big flood basalt region comprising Jatulian-Ludikovian volcanic, volcaniclastic and sedimentary rock structures. The basalts erupted through the continental crust similar to geological phenomena found in the Precambrian period.

Petrology and geochemistry of metamorphosed komatiites and basalts from the Sula Mountains greenstone belt, Sierra Leone
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the petrology and geochemistry of metamorphosed komatiites and basalts in the Sula Mountains, Sierra Leone, the largest of the late-Archaean greenstone belts in the West African Craton. Four magma types were determined in the greenstone belt. A komatiitic origin of magnesium rocks found in the area was indicated because of their trace and major element chemistry.
