Response to commentary by Demeritt and Rothman
Article Abstract:
The J.B. Smith article on climate change damage costs was not written with the purpose of showing that there is agreement regarding the range of climate change damages. Instead, the article was supposed to assist in analyzing the reasons for the variations in the published estimates of climate change damages. It just so happened that variations in the assumptions about the level of temperature change and sea level rise, population and income growth, and discount rates can be correlated to a substantial percentage of the difference in calculated damages.

Stewardship of climate
Article Abstract:
Stewardship or trusteeship refers to the act of caring for a resource on behalf of another. As a framework for thinking, trusteeship may be applied to the realm of climate changes. The stewardship framework requires cooperation from international contributors of greenhouse gases whereby governments are the trustees. Climate stabilization should be viewed as part of an emerging agenda of a global civil coalition that aims to protect basic human rights and preserve the ecosphere.
