A study conducted at Geegully Creek, northern Australia, claims that climate in northern Australia has remained relatively stable over the past 7,000 years. However, Geegully Creek is located within an arid region, so it may be argued that the area was buffered from climate changes. In addition, analysis of alluvial stratigraphic and radiometric data is not sufficient to support the conclusion that climate conditions in northern Australia have remained relatively stable over the past 7,000 years.

Sedimentology of alluvial deposits at the Geegully Creek and Dragon Tree Soak sites in northern Australia show that hydrological conditions in northwestern Australia have remained relatively stable during the last 7,000 years. Although data are not sufficient to conduct exhaustive paleohydraulic/hydrological reconstruction, they do provide important insights on flood frequency issues. Present information on the Holocene climatic history of the region are not enough to debunk the findings.

Sub-Milankovitch palaeoclimatic events: their recognition and correlation
Article Abstract:
The importance of sub-Milankovitch paleoclimatic oscillations to the understanding of the stability of the global climatic system and their causes were discussed. Sub-Milankovitch climatic oscillations occur at very limited timescales. As yet, there are no rigorous methods to compare and calibrate ice cores and peat stratigraphies, which serve as proxy records for such short climatic variations.
