The Osceola Mudflow from Mount Rainier: sedimentology and hazard implications of a huge clay-rich debris flow
Article Abstract:
Avalanches caused by phreomagnetic eruptions at the peak of Mount Rainier during the Holocence epoch resulted in lahar flows that formed the Osceola Mudflow (OM). The OMs have an average age of 5603 and 5491 year B.P. with a calendar age of 5600 year B.P. Analysis of the Tephra layers also indicated a mixture of angular fragments and ash from the lithic Mount Rainier andesite that were produced by laterally directed, phreatic or phreomagnetic eruptions.

Paleofluid-flow circulation within a Triassic rift basin: evidence from oil inclusions and thermal histories
Article Abstract:
The thermal history of the Taylorsville basin in Virginia was studied to understand the paleofluid flow effects in continental rift basins. Data, including apatite fission-rack data and vitrinite reflectance data, show that a differential uplift and a topographically driven fluid flow occurred during when it cooled after being buried. The presence of petroleum and aqueous inclusions in quartz and calcite veins supports the fluid flow hypothesis.

Depositional setting and implications of Paleoproterozoic glaciomarine sedimentation in the Hamersley Province, Western Australia
Article Abstract:
A study verified the glacial origin of the sedimentation found in the Hamersley Province, Western Australia, using facies analysis and the identification of dropstones and features of samples. Samples taken identified ten lithofacies that were classified into three glaciomarine facies associations. Physical features of rocks and sedimentation also showed similar deposits in other regions such as in South Africa, North America and Finland.
