Mineral inclusions in pyrope crystals from Garnet Ridge, Arizona, USA: implications for processes in the upper mantle
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the mineral inclusions in pyrope crystals collected from Garnet Ridge in the Navajo Volcanic Field in Arizona. Results indicated that most pyrope crystals crystallized from the fluid/melt phase under certain conditions during mantel metasomatism. Moreover, the precipitation of Ti-rich minerals led to the depletion of high field strength elements from the fluid/melt phase, which is a common feature of island arc basalts.

On the identification of textural disequilibrium in rocks using dihedral angle measurements: comment and reply
Article Abstract:
Methods to determine the accurate dimensions of dihedral angles in the determination of textural equilibrium are presented. The first method requires the rotation of the grain boundaries on the vertical axis to accurately measure the orientation of the grain. The second method is a graphical method of dihedral angle measurement where the interface orientations are plotted on an equal-area stereonet.
