A Hong Kong consortium, First Profit Investments, with Chinese financial backing made the winning bid of 380 million Hong Kong dollars on the Admiralty II site in Hong Kong's central business district. Although prices are high, the Hong Kong property market may be heading for a slump. First profit may actually incur a loss on the deal if building costs rise too high.

Hong Kong's property market is down. As small property companies fall, the banks who financed them are shouldering major losses. Hong Kong Land, a major property holder and investor, has been severely hit by the fallen market.
