A review of Mexico's trade policy from 1982 to 1994
Article Abstract:
The trade policy review of Mexico prepared by the GATT was thorough at least up to the time prior to the Mexican peso debacle. The Mexican economy has been adjudged as stable and its trade and foreign investment policies sound between the years 1985-1993. The severe economic crisis that followed was unpredictable and has been attributed mainly to the unwillingness of the Mexican government to devalue as much it should and its preference for short-term debt.

GATT trade policy review - South Africa: 1993
Article Abstract:
The review of trade policy in South Africa comprehensively describes the transition of the country from an economically isolated country because of its apartheid policy into a new economy in 1994 under a democratic regime. The implementation of trade reforms is being pushed through although the long-standing bias against exports in favor of domestic goods will have to be overcome.
