Alternative logics for decision making in social settings

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine the hypothesis that conventional and consequentialist models of decision making are not enough to account for human decision making. Focus was on J.G. March's decision making theory which stated that decision making in social situations is based on appropriateness or the construal of the situation. Results illustrated some differences between the viewing decision making from the more traditional perspective and from the appropriateness, identity and rule-based choice perspective proposed by March.
