Article Abstract:

The role of emotional algorithms in promoting co-operation and competition in organizations is examined. It is concluded that co-operation emerges when the emotional algorithms promoting a collective identity ('we') prevails, while competition results when the emotional algorithms promoting an individual identity ('me') dominates.

Evolutionary origins of two common emotions in organizational life, namely, positional bias and envy are discussed. The advantages of evolutionary psychology over micro economics, in deriving and confirming specific assumptions about sex differences in behavior are also examined.
