Labor laws in Southeast Asia are becoming increasingly repressive, forbidding or making it difficult to strike. Governments may feel a docile workforce is imperative to economic growth and foreign investment. The current situations of trade unions are described in the following countries: Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
