Pharmaceutical-embodied technical progress, longevity and quality of life: drugs as 'equipment for your health.'

Article Abstract:

The impacts of technical progress in pharmaceutical industry, in terms of new drugs, on quality of life and improving health conditions are investigated. Findings show that people who consumed newer medicines experienced better health conditions after treatment and had fewer limitations than those who consulmed older drugs. The role of techn ical progress in drugs, as compared to that in equipment, in increasing economic equality and growth is analyzed.

Article Abstract:

A paper on regulation, competition and differentiation of various statins is reviewed. Economists were fount to be more concerned about generic competition instead of therapeutic competition. Recommendations for future research are supplied.
