Effects of antitrust enforcement on aggregate concentration

Article Abstract:

The four indexes used to assess trends in asset concentration of big firms in the US between 1967 and 1993, using the Fortune 500 data showed that all the indexes verified that concentration trends were on the rise for the entire duration. Furthermore, the rise in the level of concentration brought about by the consolidations of the 1980s was statistically important. Nonetheless, on both cases, not all of the indexes were in concordance for the bottom 30 companies when assessed by subsets of 100 companies.

Wage policy in high inflation countries

Article Abstract:

Indexing system plays a vital role in the flexibility of wages in Latin American countries during 1980s. The interruption in the application of an indexing system and modifications in the applied indexing mechanism positively affect wage flexibility. Other factors, such as the proportion of past inflation included in wage adjustments, are also shown to create varying degree of flexibility on wages.
