Effects of bankruptcy court protection on asset sales
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to assess the effects of Chapters 11 and 7 bankruptcy court protection on revenues of asset sales using data on sales of commercial aircrafts by airlines in the US. Results show that distress-sale discount can not be eliminated by both chapters of the bankruptcy code. Moreover, the rate of asset sales does not appear to be affected by the bankruptcy court protection.
