Elephants: comment

Article Abstract:

A study relating to the poaching of elephants for ivory bringing them closer to extinction and the endangered species policies of various governments is presented. The study indicates that governments' that hold ivory stocks secretly partner in poaching for eventual benefits after the removal of ban on ivory trading. Therefore, the stocks of ivory should be held outside the country susceptible to poaching of elephants.

How trade saved humanity from biological exclusion: an economic theory of Neanderthal extinction

Article Abstract:

An economic rather than biological explanation of Neanderthal extinction is attempted. It is proposed that trade can counterbalance natural selection. Endogenous division of labor could have enabled the early humans to overcome biological inadequacies.

Suggestions and policies for controlling poaching of elephants are offered. Methods to monitor the participation of governments in poaching are examined.
