Stackelberg and Cournot competition under equilibrium limit pricing
Article Abstract:
In an entry deterrence framework, the claim that the price in the Stackelberg model is lower than in the Cournot model does not hold. When Post entry competition is not Cournot but Stackelberg, this condition influences the entrant and the limit price, and prices under the Stackelberg competition can be higher.
