As business retention and expansion are vital in every economic development program, communities' cooperation are likewise imperative. A classic example is demonstrated in the case of Atlas Processing Company and the Shreveport community in Louisiana. Atlas, a petroleum industry player which has been in existence at Louisiana since the 1920's, has grown to be a major source of employment and revenue for Shreveport.
