Northern Telecom of Canada ranks sixth in world market share of the world's telecommunications equipment industry. The company's growth has surpassed market growth. Strong technology has provided Northern with its advantage. Northern Telecom has devised a strategy for increased penetration in markets outside of North America. Other major international telecommunications equipment corporations are looking at mergers and joint ventures.
