Infrastructure taxes, investment policy, and intermodal competition for the transportation industries

Article Abstract:

An analysis of infrastructure taxes for the transportation industries is presented. The analysis focuses on the suggestion that such taxes be levied on deficit financing and the rehabilitation of the transportation infrastructure. A market-based technique is used to measure the economic impactof such a tax package on intermodal competition. It is shown that any such tax policy influences management and future public policy actions.

On the incidence of deferred taxes, intangibles and non-linearities in the relationship between TobinEs Q and ROI

Article Abstract:

The return on investment (ROI) provides information for explaining TobinEs q (Q). A study shows that deferred taxes are perceived to have an independent impact on ROI as well as on the Q variable in the consumer product sector and supports findings of earlier studies which suggests that deferred tax is perceived as liability and increases the firmEs equity market risk.
