Investing in Tunisia: regulatory system improved but impediments remain

Article Abstract:

Several aspects of the tax and labor law are considered as impediments to efficient business operations despite the improved, standardized and codified incentives for foreign investors brought by Tunisia's Investment Incentives Law. Such impediments include high and complex tariff schedules and unclear requirements for employer distributions to employee social benefits. Still, Tunisia has effectively adopted policies that are designed to promote foreign investment and prepare the Tunisian industry for foreign competition.
