A correspondent visits the front line in the Iraqi-Iranian war. Although the Iraqis are much better armed, they have been unable to rout the fierce Iranians. Western observers cite the poor training of the Iraqi army and the reluctance of the Iraqis to be offensive. The Iraqi government predicts victory, but is preparing for an extended war.
