It's a Free Country - Isn't It?
Article Abstract:
In Great Britain, the campaign for a new freedom of information law is gaining momentum. The proposed law by the campaign for freedom of information would make government information attainable and require anyone who wishes to keep information secret to justify that need. Several bills have been introduced, but none is expected to succeed. There are several factions within the campaign. Four main areas of contention are: law enforcement, commercial confidentiality, personal privacy and government policy-making. Freedom of information requires expensive and complex administration.

A multi-country real business cycle models with heterogeneous agents
Article Abstract:
Evidence of heterogeneity in household survey information is examined by developing a multi-country real business cycle model. In particular, the survey data show that a small portion of households are capital owners, and a major portion of non-shareholders are borrowing constrained. Using data from members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, it was shown that portfolio diversification provides large welfare gains for shareholders. Moreover, the variability of stockholder consumption is higher as opposed to nonstockholders.
