Globalization and the Arab world: choosing prosperity or poverty

Article Abstract:

Arab countries embark on economic restructuring designed to promote economic improvement and global competitiveness. Morocco and Egypt have introduced privatization in an effort to develop free competition in their respective economies. Share prices in Oman's stock market, meanwhile, are expected to increase in the coming years as the country opened its stock market to international investors. Kuwait has started allowing the entry of direct foreign portfolio investments in the country's equities while the United Arab Emirates is expanding its several sectors, such as finance and tourism.
