An economic historian's economist: remembering Simon Kuznets

Article Abstract:

The economist Simon Smith Kuznets can be described as the exemplar economic empiricist of his generation. His greatness was achieved through imaginative hard work on national accounts and the measurement of capital formation. His legacy is the system for monitoring national output, income, consumption and the reiteration of Euclid's view on Royal Roads and knowledge.
