Modeling coordinated foreign exchange market interventions: the case of the Japanese and U.S. interventions in the 1990s

Article Abstract:

The Central Bank intervenes in foreign exchange markets in an attempt to influence either the exchange rate level or the exchange rate volatility. The intervention policy of the Japanese monetary authorities and the U.S. Federal Reserve analyzed by the ordered probit model is discussed.

Noise trading and delayed exchange rate overshooting

The surprising delayed overshooting of exchange rates caused by monetary policy shock has been reported. An explanation of this phenomenon has been attempted by the analysis of noise trading in the foreign exchange market.
