Noisy communication and the evolution of cooperation

Article Abstract:

A novel approach in selecting efficient equilibrium strategies for noisy pre-play communication settings was developed in an attempt to provide a reliable means of sending messages. The proposed approach advocates the use of Robson's "secret handshake" concept, which dwells on the notion that sending cheap talks guarantees the efficiency of messages. Since the approach does not consider the occurrence of drifts, it offers a neutrally stable means of ensuring messages are not altered by arbitrarily small mutations.

Privatization and employment: a study of the jute industry in Bangladesh

Article Abstract:

Data from jute mills in Bangladesh are used to study the effects of privatization on output and employment. The study shows that privatization had significantly reduced employment. However, reduction in output was not statistically significant. Major employment reductions occurred among clerical and managerial employees. Permanent manual workers were substituted by casual labor workers. The overall level of employment of manual workers was, thus, unchanged.

Are two a good representative for many?

Article Abstract:

The adoption of binary models has been found to be inefficient in evaluating type-dependent reservation utilities. It was shown that binary models are not capable of considering the presence of countervailing incentives of general models. This difficulty may be addressed by a three-type model whose second best contract properties are influenced by reservation utilities between adjacent types.
