Nonlinear taxes and intertemporal resource management: the case of timber

Article Abstract:

The biggest effect of income tax on timber resource management is on entrance decisions, and it has less effect on suppliers who have made a decision to harvest. The method used is that of Burtless-Hausman, with a double period model showing optimisation. Heterogeneity has been woven into the assessment of timber's biotechnological aspects. The method outlined could be used with different timber management models.

The rise, fall and sustainability of capital-resource economies

Article Abstract:

A proof is presented on the validity of the argument that a positive value of aggregate investments indicates that an economy is developing sustainably. Asheim's 1994 paper disproving the argument is found to be based on unprooved assumptions and that in certain cases, the argument does hold true thus confirming Dasgupta and Heal's other assumptions regarding sustainability.
