Oil+Food-IMF = India
Article Abstract:
Since 1980, India's economy has grown by over five per cent each year. It has returned to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) 1.1 billion of its five billion loan. By 1985, India will be seventy per cent self-sufficient in oil production. Tax and excise duty cuts have been instituted to promote a more enterprising private sector. India's isolation policies have impeded its economic growth. Starvation appears to be no longer an immediate problem but many Indians remain poor and hungry.
