Oil and gas equipment leads best prospects

Azerbaijan could represent a market of more than $9 billion for suppliers of oil and gas field equipment in the period 2002 to 2005, due to the expansion of Azerbaijan International Operating Co.'s offshore oil and gas production. Other business sectors viewed as good prospects include telecommunications equipment and services, food processing and packaging machinery and building products.

Telecoms still a saudi priority: equipment needs for planned network upgrades/expansions

Saudi Arabia has moved conservatively on such matters as deregulation, privatization, and foreign investment in its telecommunications sector. Demand for services has been rising, and the Saudi Telecommunications Company anticipates having installed capacity of 4 million fixed lines by end-2001, vs 2.9 million in mid-2000.

The kingdom's telecoms market: network upgrades/expansions and privatization fuel demand

Latest trends in Saudi Arabia's telecommunications market are discussed. Almost $650 million a year will be invested in upgrades and additions to the network in the period to 2002, according to a report by the US and Foreign Commercial Service.
