Overview - small business optimism
Article Abstract:
The Index of Small Business Optimism fell by 0.2 points in May 1996 to settle at 99.8 which, although far from being an alarming level, indicates continued erosion of confidence. Prospects are satisfactory in almost all areas as employment remains full amid strong capital spending and solid exports. Retail sales remain solid but hold no surprises for the market. An increasing frequency of compensation hikes and more aggressive pricing characterize the small business market.

Monthly Report - June 1999
Article Abstract:
The May 1999 survey of economic trends in small businesses shows a significant decline in recruitment plans, job offers, capital spending plans and sales expectations in small companies. Despite the rise in the net percent of companies which are raising prices during the year, price hikes remained significantly low. However, incidence of plans for increasing inventory stocks remarkably rose.
