Pollution taxation and revenue recycling under monopoly unions

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the possibility of double dividends during increases in pollution tax and the recycling of tax revenues. A framework supporting a given number of firms determining pollution-minimizing production technology based on workers formation of monopoly unions was utilized to carry out the analysis. Results indicated that subsidizing employment and investments correlated with increases in employment relative to pollution taxes.

Are employment policies counterproductive when wage setting is centralized?

Article Abstract:

Previous studies have concluded that centralized wage bargaining policies have had a positive impact on employment performance. However, recent research has shown that such policies can prove counterproductive in cases where a dominant labor union exerts considerable influence on national wage levels. Nonetheless, it was revealed that rigorous employment and wage policies force unions to maximize after-tax real wages by lowering nominal wages.

International market integration and union wage bargaining

Article Abstract:

Market integration could help labour unions more than conventional wisdom decrees, according to an analysis of two markets with one union, which integrate to form a bigger market with a duopoly in terms of union representation. This is relevant in North America, and in Europe, and integration and trade agreements are developing, creating bigger markets with more firms competing within them.
