The world's smallest photo ionisation detector (PID)
Article Abstract:
A personal area volatile organic compound (VOC) monitor has been developed using an ultraviolet lamp to ionise chemicals and measure their concentrations. The ToxiRAE monitor is extremely small and lightweight and it has a digital display of over 2 inches long which is back lit to help reading. It incorporates instantaneous alarms and datalogging and it can be operated from Windows based computer software. The alarm levels can be adjusted to meet legal requirements.

Let's go on a guilt trip
Article Abstract:
A group Northern California student took a trip to East L.A. and Tijuana to view the living conditions of those living in poverty. The point of this sojourn is to have the teenagers appreciate a different side of life and feel for the plight of the poor.
