The Game Academics Play: Editors versus Authors
Article Abstract:
A comparison of authors and editors shows that while authors seek to increase the influence of their works by maximizing the number of publications, editors seek to enhance their journals' reputations by maximizing the quality of the papers published. Implications of these two strategies for the literature of academic disciplines are discussed.
