Article Abstract:

The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) increased 0.3%, seasonally adjusted, in October 1995. The food index and the food and beverage index each increased 0.3%. Grocery store food prices were 0.4% higher in October. Meat prices rose 1.2%, pork prices were up 1.4%, and other meat prices increased 2.4%. Egg prices rose 4.1%. The airlines fare index increased 2.3% and the gasoline index decreased 0.5%. Medical care costs increased 0.3%. Energy and housing both had increases of 0.4%. The Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) also rose by 0.3% in October.

Consumer price indexes (CPIs) rose 0.2% in Jul 1995, seasonally adjusted. The CPI for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) reached 152.5, a 2.8% increase for the past 12 months, without seasonal adjustment. The CPI for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) reached 149.9, a 2.8% increase for the past 12 months, without seasonal adjustment. Apparel and upkeep costs fell 2.0% in the CPI-U and 1.8% in the CPI-W for the past 12 months. Medical care costs rose 4.4% in the CPI-U and 4.5% in the CPI-W for the past 12 months.
